The ban will come into effect on December 12.
During the suspension, the 26-year-old faces a blanket ban banning him from participating in, coaching or attending any tennis tournament sanctioned by an official governing body or national association.
“The length of the temporary suspension will count towards any future sanctions,” ITIA said.
Purcell’s other Grand Slam victory came in 2022, when he won the Wimbledon men’s doubles title with Matt Ebden.
He also won the runner-up in the men’s doubles finals of the 2020 and 2022 Australian Open.
