Violations discovered at Shawarma store
It was found that food safety norms were flouted in almost all of these shawarma shop raids. Mujtaba Grills uses synthetic food colorings. The synthetic food coloring was disposed of on the spot by officials. It was found that the Shasha Sahandar Shawarma shop did not have a valid FSSAI license, while Mujtaba Grills and Rolls on Wheels also did not display their food safety licenses as mandated by law.
In addition to these permitting issues, there were numerous lapses in storage practices during the inspection. Food safety officials observed inadequate labeling of raw materials and a failure to properly separate meat and poultry, which could lead to cross-contamination.
Telangana Food Safety Commissioner further said that the hygiene standards of many shawarma centers have been affected. No hygiene certificate was found in any of the restaurants inspected; as per the requirement of Telangana Food Safety Department.
