BSP national coordinator Akash Anand also traveled to Chennai earlier in the day to pay tributes to the slain party leader.
“We urge the state government to refer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation,” Socialist Party of the Philippines Chairman Mayawati said after paying tribute.
She added: “I urge the state government, especially the CM, to ensure law and order in the state, especially the vulnerable groups who should feel safe. If the government was serious, the accused would have been arrested, but that is not the case now in this case , we urge the state government to refer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Mayawati called on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government to “punish the guilty” and strongly condemned murder, labeling it “highly deplorable and reprehensible.” She noted the importance of Armstrong as a prominent Dalit voice tamil nadu and urged the state government to take immediate action.
Greater Chennai Police Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore announced on Saturday that eight people suspected of involvement in Armstrong’s murder case have been detained and are currently undergoing interrogation. “Eight people we suspect to be involved in the crime have been arrested. BSP leader brutally murdered
The incident took place on Friday night, July 5, when 47-year-old K Armstrong was seen with friends and support near his residence in busy area of Sembiam near Perambur While talking, the reporter was attacked and killed by a gang of six people.

Armstrong’s family members rushed to the scene after hearing his cries for help, only to find him with severe injuries to his head and neck. They immediately rushed him to a corporate hospital on Grimes Road, Thousand Lights City, where doctors declared him dead after examination.
Motive behind the attack
The Chennai police have identified two potential motives behind the brutal murder of K Armstrong. First, they suspected a rivalry between Akot Suresh and Armstrong over the Aarudhra gold loan scheme scam, which involved billions of rupees. Suresh is said to be representing the promoters, while Armstrong is backing the lead investors. It is worth noting that Arcot Suresh was murdered at Foreshore Estate on August 18, 2023, and one of the eight people who surrendered was Ponnai Balu, the younger brother of Arcot Suresh.
