After a pulsating game, the former champions Sri Lanka won against Ireland with some scary moments.
When they took to the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida on Friday, Sri Lanka’s batting looked wobbly.
They passed 82 runs for five wickets in 11 overs and posted 163/8 at the end of their innings.
Their all-rounders who included Wanindu Hasaranga (26), Angelo Mathews (32) and Shanaka (23) batted quickly to take them to a competitive total.
The team was fortunate as early contributions from Pau Stirling (21) and George Dockrell (17). However, things went downhill when Shanaka became captain. He switched to medium bowling after contributing with his middle order pace. His figure stood at 4/23 as Ireland slumped to 122 all out after 18.2 overs.
Sri Lanka will play South Africa in New York on Monday while India is scheduled to meet Scotland on Wednesday.
Afghanistan is good at challenging Scotland

In the warm-up match against Oman, rain prevented Afghanistan from having a chance of batting but they made it count during the game against Scotland
Ghubaz Rahmanullah and Naib are two openers that Afghanistan had chosen to bat with.
