South Africa have secured qualification to the semi-finals of the T20 world cup after a fantastic three-wicket win using DLS method against hosts West Indies at Antigua on Monday.
Meanwhile, defending champions England progressed from Group 2 thanks to their victory over USA on Sunday.
And as it stands:
Group 1
- India (4 points) are almost there. If they win the match against Australia (2) on Monday, they will qualify as group winners.
- Afghanistan (2) would then need to defeat Bangladesh (0)on Tuesday in order to progress into the next stage of the tournament.
- However, if India lose against Australia and Afghanistan beat Bangladesh then India, Australia and Afghanistan will end up with 4 points each. NRR will be brought into play where Afghans are inferior this time around and they must thrash Bangladesh.
- India can only miss out if Australia and Afghanistan win their final matches by more than 120 runs or wickets respectively.
- Should Afghanistan go down to Bangladesh and India succumb to Australia in their last respective outings, these two teams will move forward.
- The losers in both cases will finish on 2 points respectively with NRR being decisive where Aussies have an edge this time.
Group 2
