The trial of India’s Supreme Court has been postponed till September 5 hearing the bail plea and arrest challenge of Arvind Kejriwal, former chief minister of Delhi who is alleged to be involved in a scam regarding Goods and Services Tax (GST) policy. The court gave two days for Kejriwal to respond and the CBI one week to file its counter-affidavit.
Kejriwal’s advocate mentioned that the counter affidavit was filed by CBI at 8 pm yesterday against only one application. Due within one week. The judge then fixed the next date for September 5th.
On August 14, the Supreme Court denied interim bail to Kejriwal in this case asking also the CBI to respond on his challenge to arrest. Kejriwal was arrested by CBI on June 26.
Kejriwal detained by enforcement Directorate (ED) On March 21st, he had initially gotten bail from the trial court. Money laundering case June 20th July 12th he managed to secure interim relief from Supreme Court in money laundering case.
