Mission commander Matthew Dominick, who was on the first spaceflight, described the disorienting feeling of returning to Earth, saying: “The big things you expect are disorientation and dizziness. He also joked that at a family dinner he had to lie on a towel because it was uncomfortable to sit on, and expressed his space flight. Pre-reading did not prepare him for such a challenge.

NASA withholds details about astronauts hospitalized after Crew-8 mission
As for the hospitalized astronauts, NASA and the remaining three astronauts did not disclose specific details. NASA has not yet revealed the identities of the crew members who required medical assistance after splashdown. The person was reportedly kept in hospital overnight as a precaution but was later said to be in stable condition. NASA emphasizes that such physical examinations are routine after long-duration space missions.
Despite the speculation, Barratt, a physician and Crew-8 veteran, stressed the importance of medical privacy and said details would be shared “in due course,” but at this time, the crew could not discuss the matter further.
Crew-8 mission delays and setbacks
The Crew-8 mission has faced several delays, including hurricane-related delays in October and complications with the Starliner spacecraft, which temporarily emptied the spacecraft intended for other astronaut returns. The delay also delays the SpaceX Crew-9 mission, which is needed to assist Starliner astronauts.
