Panaji: The Agricultural Department farmers is subsidizing rice seed of high quality and vegetable seeds for the forthcoming monsoons and Sharif season, supplying agricultural machines at favorable prices, as well as various planting materials fruit crops.
Among the main steps taken are guaranteeing that high-quality rice seeds are accessible. A range like Jaya, Jyothi and Karjat can now be obtained from all seed shops across the state with a subsidy of 50 percent. In three years it is better for a farmer to change their rice seeds in order to maintain crop health and achieve higher production levels.
There is also a 50% discount on vegetable varieties that should be planted into diversified operations, planted by farmers themselves. This effort is meant to enable families grow their own fresh foodstuffs, improve food security and encourage permaculture adoption.
In addition, the Directorate through the Regional Agricultural Offices (ZAOs) has introduced subsidies for tractor hiring fees so as to make land preparation and crop cultivation easier. Furthermore, rental charges have been reduced by half making advanced farming machinery affordable to all sizes of farmers who want to use mechanical transplanters for paddy sowing.
