The 2024 season of the Indian Premier League is heading into its final stretch with only two more matches to go, both of which will be played at the MA Chidamabaram Stadium in Chennai, the first of which is Qualifier 2 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals on Friday under humid conditions.
The winner of Qualifier 2 will meet Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who have been champions for a second time, in the final on May 26th.
SRH finished second on the points table and after losing to KKR in a one-sided Qualifier 1 in Ahmedabad, they will have their second and last chance for a place in the finals. Rajasthan eliminated RCB to set up an almost-semifinal clash with Sunrisers.
Although there are no expected rains according to weather predictions, normally during this period of year high humidity levels are experienced.
“Cloudy with sunny intervals” appears as May 24 forecasts.
The game is scheduled for a 1930 IST start; therefore climatic conditions by evening become more important where temperatures would be around 31 degrees Celsius but it would feel like it is hotter than that due to high humidity levels ranging between 80% along with virtually complete cloud cover of about 99%, resulting in a “feels like” temperature of around 38 degrees Celsius.
Consequently, this means that dew might settle later in the game making fielding and bowling difficult.
