Goa will be unable to hold up against the real Monsoon. For this year, the date of onset was June 5th. The monsoon is expected to reach Goa in four or five days, if all conditions are favorable.
The delay does not mean it did not arrive says a Goan meteorologist, Ramesh Kumar, a meteorologist and retired chief scientist at National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) in Goa.
“The date is not behind the monsoon season in our state.” Ramesh Kumar referred to NIO’s reports about the monsoon advancing northward and said that it would reach Goa soon, as the northern limit was close by now. According to him, unless there is any disruption in its progress, rains should come in time.

In Goa, IMD issued yellow alert for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds reaching 30km/hr-40km/hr at isolated places over the state on June 4-5. There is also likelihood of light rain and thundershowers. Panaji recorded 35.6 degree Celsius maximum temperature while minimum temperature at Dabolim was 25 degrees Celsius.
