wedding celebration Sobhita Dhulipala and Naga Chaitanya Now in full swing, the actress shared a picture of her Lata ceremonya traditional pre-wedding ritual rooted in Telugu culture. According to ETimes, the bride-to-be dressed herself up as Heirloom Jewelry Pieces passed down from her mother and grandmother.
A source close to the actress revealed, “She chose to wear jewelry from her mother and grandmother to make the ceremony even more special and touching for her.”
The Lata ceremony has profound significance in Telugu tradition and marks an important step before the bride officially gets married. It involves planting bamboo poles on the leaves of mango, jamun and Jammi trees and then worshiping with sacred materials like pancha loha, navaratan (nine gems) and navadhaanya (nine grains). A sacred Potli (bag) is tied to the pillar and prayers are offered to the pancha bhuta (five elements) and devta in all eight directions. This ritual is believed to purify and bless the bride before she enters married life.
After the Raata ceremony, the bride attends Mangalasnanam Ceremonysimilar to the haldi ceremony. In this ritual, turmeric paste is applied to the bride as part of an auspicious cleansing process.
Ahead of the big day, the couple also had a Pelli Kuthuru ceremony where Sobhita dressed in bridal attire and performed a special Aarti. The married woman reportedly blessed the bride-to-be and presented her with bracelets.
The festivities were later joined by the doting groom and his family. The ceremony concluded with a lunch served to the guests.
Apart from photos from the haldi ceremony on Friday. A video of the couple also started circulating on social media. In the video, the two sit side by side as their family members present them with flowers.
According to reports, Sobhita and Chaitanya have been dating for 3 years and will tie the knot on December 4 in Hyderabad.
