
New Delhi: An unidentified person opened fire at his residence Sheikh Ahmed Hussein Ghulam Husseinan independent candidate in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The incident took place at around 4 am on Monday in Jalgaon city.
Hussein’s house in Shera Naka was hit by three rounds of gunfire. Police confirmed that while there were no reports of injuries, the incident has raised concerns ahead of the November 20 vote.
A Jalgaon police official said: “The incident took place around 4 am and police are scanning local CCTV footage to ascertain the identity of the gunman.”
The MIDC police station has registered a case against the unidentified gunman under relevant sections of the Arms Act. Investigations are currently underway to arrest the perpetrators.
