Pro-Iran Telegram account leaked allegedly confidential information Pentagon Detailed documentation Israelprepare for potential military strike Against Tehran.
The documents, released by the pro-Iran Telegram account Al-Monitor, claim to provide insights into U.S. intelligence observations of Israeli military activities on October 15 and 16.
October 1, Iran Israel fired 200 ballistic missiles into Israel, causing widespread panic and sending many Israelis into bomb shelters. The attack was reportedly in retaliation for previous attacks in Lebanon that killed key Hezbollah leaders and a July bombing in Tehran that killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. In response to the aggression, Israeli officials have been ramping up military preparations as they prepare for a counterattack.
The Pentagon and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to comment. leaked documentssaid an Axios report, but did not dispute its authenticity.
Details of alleged leaks
The leaked documents are said to come from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and describe various military exercises conducted by the Israeli Air Force (IAF). According to these reports:
- Missile activity: It has been observed that since October 8, the Indian Air Force has used at least 16 “Golden Horizon” air-launched ballistic missiles (ALBM) and 40 IS02 (Rock) air-launched ballistic missiles. Used in attacks on Serbian armed positions. In addition, there are reports of “secret drone activity” and large-scale deployment exercises at major air bases such as Ramat David and Ramon.
- Military exercises: Documents show the Indian Air Force conducted extensive exercises involving air-launched ballistic missiles, fighter jets, drones and tanker aircraft. The exercises were interpreted as preparation for potential long-range strikes against Iranian targets.
- Aerial refueling: A document shows that an aerial refueling exercise was conducted on October 16 to enhance Israel’s long-range combat capabilities. Furthermore, the leak also means that Israel has been using drones to gather intelligence across the region, which shows the level of Israeli military preparedness.
- Covert operations: The report also mentioned clandestine drone activity and large-scale deployment exercises at various Israeli air bases such as Ramat David and Ramon.
The leak raised serious concerns among the U.S. intelligence community. Officials told Axios that the situation is “deeply concerning” and that an investigation is underway to determine the source of the leak and how the classified information reached the pro-Iran platform.
While the authenticity of the documents has not been independently verified, U.S. authorities are taking them seriously.
A senior official in Israel’s defense establishment also expressed serious concern about the leak, saying it could compromise operational security. However, U.S. sources said the leak was unlikely to change Israel’s military plans against Iran.
strategic timing
The timing of the leak is crucial as it coincides with Israel stepping up military preparations in the wake of Iranian missile strikes. Analysts have speculated that the release of the documents could be an attempt by Iran-linked sources to disrupt Israeli operations or influence public perceptions of U.S.-Israeli relations.
The Pentagon has remained silent on the matter, leading some experts to speculate whether it might have been a deliberate leak designed to demonstrate U.S. oversight of Israeli military operations and appease critics within the Democratic Party over U.S. influence over its allies.
The leak occurred hours before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s resort residence in Caesarea was targeted by a drone, although he and his wife were not present at the time. The attack involved three drones, one of which struck near his home, while the other two were intercepted by Israeli defense systems.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused “Iranian agents” of being behind the assassinations of him and his wife.
