Sukhbir Badal, the Chief Minister of Punjab and Naruana (Bathinda) Former satirist Bhagwant Mann is full of comedy as he challenges and mocks SAD chief Sukhbir Badal in Badal, the latter’s ancestral village in Muktsar district on Tuesday. However, he was ultimately rewarded with the same.
When he arrived badar village and spoke at a conference American AP Association During the road show, Mann twisted the lyrics of Kikli Kaleer Di to highlight SAD’s poor poll performance. The rights of little girls, hijab is for my brother) to “kikli kaleer di buri halat sukhbir di” (Dancing is for little girls; the situation in Sukhbir is bad)”.
However, Sukhbir was not going to let that go unchallenged. Addressing a party rally in Nihal Singhwala town of Faridkot assembly constituency later that evening: “Bhagwant Mann hai bhand, loka nay mainu pharai ajj isdey jhootan di pand; ho javo tayaar, hun Punjabi launge 6 1st nu isdi jhand (Bhagwant Mann isdi jhand)” An entertainer today people handed me his bag full of lies get ready now Punjabis will punish him on 1st June).
Mann became the first chief minister ever to take the political fight to doorstep of the Badals before this. This happened within two weeks from his second roadshow held in Bathinda parliamentary constituency. On May 7th there was a road show in Bathinda city where they came from. Meanwhile Harsimrat Badal, wife of Sukhbir has been nominated again . None among its opponents did any chief minister go campaigning there except for Mann who had done.
During the tour, Mann pointed to palm trees in Badal saying that they were originally planted for an international conference in Mohali but brought to the village after that. Man had also sung earlier Ironically Kikli Kaleer Di version at a rally in the neighboring village of Naruana. The roadshow was traveling from Badal to Lambi.
Mann addressed a meeting in Noorana to win Dalits’ support. Several ministers and MLAs from SC reserved seats were summoned. To highlight what his government has done for dalit welfare, he reminded them about revolutionary dalit poet Sant Ram Udasi and recited his poetry , claiming that AAP is committed to raising the economic level of Dalits as imagined by BR Ambedkar . Further on Mann said that governments have been emphasizing colored cards (blue card, red card) so far.“But we are trying to realize Ambedkar’s ideal: educating Dalit children to seriously improve their living standards,” he added.
On Tuesday, Aam Aadmi Party got much needed oxygen when former SAD MLA Darshan Singh Kotfatta joined AAP along with CM Bhagwant Mann. He won Bathinda panchayat on Akali ticket in 2012. Another ex MP Sukhpal Singh Nannu has also switched over to AAP. Two time BJP MLA from Ferozepur Urban won assembly elections held in 2007 and 2002 respectively before this.
