New Delhi: shiva sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut Towards maharashtra government after the murder leaders of the national communist party Baba Siddiq claims gang war Under the current government, the influence of the underworld has surged in Mumbai.
Rath, speaking on Monday, accused the government of having links with the underworld, which he claimed was orchestrated by Gujarat.
“I have warned before that gang wars and the power of underworld in Mumbai will increase under this government. This government is also supported by the underworld controlled in Gujarat,” Raut said.
He also mentioned the recent drug seizure in Gujarat where drugs worth Rs 5,000 crore were confiscated. “If drugs worth Rs 5,000 crore are seized, it means drugs worth Rs 50,000 crore have flooded the country,” he added.
Raut further challenged Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, calling on him to confront those responsible for Siddique’s murder and prove his ‘Singhamgiri’ — a reference to the 2011 Bollywood film Singham, in which the protagonist is a fearless police officer.
“Shinde declared himself Singham after taking action in the Badlapur sexual assault case. Now, if he had really had the guts, he should have met the conspirators behind Baba Sidik’s murder,” Raut said.
The Shiv Sena leader also made a veiled reference to Lawrence Bishnoi, a gangster currently lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat in connection with Siddique’s murder. “This is a challenge for the Union Home Minister from Gujarat,” Raut said, urging accountability at the highest level.
The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police arrested Pravin Lonkar from Pune in connection with Siddique’s murder case. According to police reports, Praveen is the brother of Shubham Lonkar, who had posted on social media that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was responsible for the killing. Shubham Lonkar remains at large, and authorities say Praveen provided safe haven to other suspects involved in the case.
Mumbai police conducted an ossification test on Dharmaraj Kashyap, one of the accused in the case, to ascertain his age. Tests confirmed that Kashyap was not a minor and he subsequently appeared in court, where the court granted police custody until October 21.
Investigation found that several individuals were involved in the conspiracy, including Pravin Lonkar, Dharmaraj Kashyap and Shivkumar Gautam. Police said the group was involved in plotting to assassinate Siddique.
In response to the escalating tension surrounding the murder, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde spoke about the law and order situation in the state. He pledged the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety and bringing perpetrators to justice. “Two people have been arrested in connection with the case and the third accused who is absconding will also be arrested soon. Be it the Bishnoi gang or any other underworld entity, no one is spared,” Shinde said.
The NCP leader was shot dead with multiple gunshot wounds outside his office in Nirmal Nagar on Saturday night and later succumbed to his injuries at Lilavati Hospital. His funeral was held with state honors at Badakabrastan in Mumbai on Sunday.
