San Francisco 49ers defender fred warner. A player who has stepped it up head and shoulders this season. In this case, his superb performance against opponent minnesota vikingsDespite losing the match, he demonstrated his great skills and instincts. One of the highlights of the game was his ability to drop the ball twice, and one of those drop attempts came with a surprise friend.
Helping Hand: Fred Warner’s forced fumble
In their last game against the Minnesota Vikings, Fred Warner was one of the few still bright spots for the 49ers even in defeat. and 1 interception. But when it came to one of the forced drops, Warner let it be known that he had some unwelcome assistance.
In an interview not very long ago with GOAT Farm Sports Warner spoke of this particular instance and how he forced turnovers deep in the third quarter. The breakdown occurred as he swiped the ball from running back Aaron Jones just short of the endzone. While this specific play helped in stopping any more progress by the Minnesota s, Warner noted that it was possible because of Minnesota’s receiver, Trent Sheffield.
Regarding Sheffield, tried from the front, Warner recounted, that Sheffield who was a close friend had only a few words with him and then focused on something else. Warner remembered what Schmidt was doing along with him, “I was on a guy in defense, my friend, Trent Sheffield and he told me, ‘Yeah, go with me, Fred’ And I said, ‘What?’ ” This interaction made Warner aware that Sheffield was trying to distract him from the game. He head was spinning in one direction and right then he realized Aaron Jones had the ball and was moving.
Always one to trust his senses, Warner was brilliant. When the muscle memory kicked in, he switched and put his hand to make contact in a seconds to when the ball was being passed from Jones right hand to left. Warner highlighted the importance of ‘getting that back’ quickly as a touchdown in that situation would have permitted Minnesota the leverage to elevate the score line to justified levels in the game.
Even though the 49ers lost the game altogether, the fact that Warner managed to recover the fumble was a positive sign in the sense that it gave them a fighting chance in what looked like a bad situation. The level of poise and the ability to influence a game in a positive manner is on par with great mental strength and physical conditioning which National Football League Players such as Warner have been great at.
