Some people might say the same thing Samik Roy ChowdhuryDirector of one of the most talked about Bengali films of 2024,to your waist‘. “Belin”, psychological thriller The film hit theaters back in March and has gained momentum with its compelling storyline, riveting script and noteworthy performances. After the critical and commercial success of “Beline,” Samik returned to base with his next project, “Maya Satya Brahma‘. The first image from the film is now out.
Samik Roy Choudhury has a keen interest in human psychology and admits that his work often reflects his interest in the subject. “Maya Satya Bhram” is no exception. The story of his upcoming film is based on spirituality and certain philosophies of nature and humanity. However, at the same time, Maya Satya Bhram will be a cross-genre film as it deals with crime, suspense and a lot of thriller content. According to the film’s creators, the film will be shot in the form of a fictional biography.
According to the story of ‘Maya Satya Bhram’, two haunting disappearances in the past seven months have changed the dynamics of life around the Prafulla Nagar police station in Kolkata. The first disappearance involved Totoro, the 8-year-old son of Sub-Inspector Sanjay Konal. The second is Sara, a Swedish film production assistant and researcher who traveled to India to study shamans. At first glance, the two cases appear unrelated. However, a disturbing yet intriguing investigation links the two disappearances to a mysterious figure named Triloka Dash Baba.
The child’s parents, SI Sanjay Konar and his wife Urmila, went through a difficult phase in the search for their son Totoro. As they narrow down the possibilities linking the two cases, the mystery of Trilok Dash Baba and his journey slowly unfolds.
The plot of “Beline” revolves around an old single man who feels lonely in his retirement life, until one day a random phone call changes the course of his life. That phone call became a window into the life of the girl and her live-in partner. As the equation evolved over time, so did the voyeur’s perspective.

What about the male protagonist? Samik said, “Finding a capable actor for the role of Sanjay Konal was a difficult task! I contacted some big names in the Bangladeshi entertainment industry for the role, including Ritwik Chakrabortybut things didn’t work out. In that sense, casting Soham in the role was almost like divine intervention. Things just fell into place for him. Now, as I can see, he’s put so much effort into it and is probably more excited about the project than I am! “
