Samajwadi MP Ram Gopal Yadav backtracks after misusing CJI's 'Ram Mandir verdict' remarks

New Delhi: Advanced sajwadi party (SP) Leader Ram Gopal Yadav Controversy erupted on Monday over alleged insults to Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud About His “Prayers to God” ram mandir Solution” comments.
When asked about the CJI’s statement recalling how he went ahead with the verdict in the complex Ram Mandir case, Samajwadi Party MP Said: “When you come back to life, you turn into a ghost and haunt the public. Many people talk like this. Should I pay attention?”

Chandrachud on Sunday shared his personal experience of handling the Ramjan Mahbhumi-Babri Masjid dispute and revealed that he prayed to God for a solution.
At a ceremony held in his hometown Kankhsar, the CJI revealed that he had sought divine intervention for judgment in the decades-old case, which has been pending before him for three months.
Ram Gopal Yadav, however, retracted his statement saying “no one asked him any question about the CJI”.
The Samajwadi Party leader’s clarification comes after his statement sparked a major controversy, with the BJP calling Ram Gopal Yadav’s remarks “in defiance of the judiciary”.
Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s IT unit, said the Samajwadi Party leader should “be booked for contempt of court in this case”.

“Memory Gopal Yadav Use derogatory language about the Chief Justice Supreme Courtwhich reflects a disregard for justice. Such behavior shows the Samajwadi Party’s distrust of the country’s constitution and independent judiciary and the use of abusive language. This is extremely unfortunate and reprehensible. BJP spokesperson should take strict action against Ram Gopal Yadav” Rakesh Tripathi told news agency IANS.

CJI Chandrachud was one of the five-judge bench headed by the then Chief Justice. Ranjan Gogoi of Indiamade a historic verdict on November 9, 2019.
The bench settled a long-standing dispute paving the way for the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya and also ruled on the construction of a mosque on another five-acre plot of land in the same city.
CJI Chandrachud also visited the Rama Temple in Ayodhya in July this year and offered prayers. The consecration ceremony of the temple’s idol was held on January 22, 2023 in the presence of the Prime Minister Modi.
