A part of roof ledge, on the MG Road Exit near Oakwood Manor, collapsed on Thursday night causing damage to two cars in the stilt parking lot of the D tower. This incident sparked fears about safety concerns among residents.
Nobody was around the car at that time but occupants were shocked by what could have been a terrible accident. The association was under maintenance work when this happened.
One of his cars Amit puri blamed mismanagement in the association “They have been doing repair works for one and a half years but carelessly and without following proper procedure. On Thursday the slab was repaired but a shower led to its destruction. I had my car parked there 10minutes before it happened then a guard called me back telling me that there was a child standing there just few moments before.”
Developer maintains it is not at fault as it had raised these concerns on structural integrity of building with the management.
“It has been almost twenty years since this association came into being and repair works will be over soon,” said Vipin Yadav, Association’s President. In areas where no repairing has been done yet, this event took place. Cantilever plate steel bars were used. Thus we wrote to builder asking him to have an inspection on bracing as we suspect other ledges may similarly be defective too and admit lack up keeping since construction began some 17 years ago.” The builder handed over Oakwood Estate to us. Police attended but did not open any case as they could not establish any offense against anyone.
“We haven’t received any complaint till now,” said DTP (enforcement) Manish Yadav adding that they would carry out inspections and acted in accordance with rules.
