Recently, Ryan Reynolds hinted at the possibility of including Nicolas Cage in his upcoming movies Deadpool and Wolverine as the flame-headed vigilante. In an interview with Collider last week, Reynolds confirmed that there is a list of potential guest stars in which Cage has been rumored to be a part of it. Although this was discussed but was never done.
Cage who played Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider character in movie ghost rider (2007) and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011), was requested to join the new film. While Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine series are distributed by Parami, sony distributes their film Ghost Rider starring Cage. This difference at the studio may have contributed to Cage’s decision not to participate in the film.
Patrick Stewart was also not considered for the sequel despite interest in bringing back Cage. With previous roles he had played, fans were hoping he would return as Charles Xavier. X-Men movie franchise staring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and X-Men 3 The Last Stand (2006). Quite recently, Shawn Levy announced that Stewart did not have any plans of coming back for another installment or even discussing if he would do so. Deadpool and Wolverine.
Conversely, these aforementioned films will contain returning actors such as… chris evans He is going to reprise his role as Johnny Storm Fantastic Four movie which is something he couldn’t help but share on social media about him being excited over reprising his role since 2007 after all these years. I am just so grateful Reynolds finally let me play Gambit; I had been dreaming of playing this character for ages.
While Nicolas Cage and Patrick Stewart were nowhere to be found it still brought back other loved characters into focus for nostalgia’s sake on its cast.
