As a member of India, Rohit Won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Rohit finally earned his fateful date during the World Cup last month.
Rohit, shortly after announcing his retirement from Twenty20 international cricket, considered his victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup – a tournament that India won as the only unbeaten team – as his best moment of the game.
“Rohit Sharma joins two other cricketing giants in Kapil Dev and Dhoni Led India to win the World Cup trophy. Like the two, Rohit is also a people’s captain.
“Loved not only by his players but by the entire Indian cricket fraternity. Cricket fans also love his simple leadership style and tactics and he is the sharpest player in the game. Some of his moves may surprise you. It’s confusing, but the end result is often not exactly what the team needs at that moment,” Gavaskar wrote in his column at noon on Sunday, according to IANS.
Rohit, who scored 257 runs in the tournament at a strike rate of 156.70, took on the responsibility of providing India with early batting runs; his fifties against Australia and England were particularly important.
Gavaskar added: “He leads from the front with no regard for personal milestones and looks to get the team off to a good start every time. India are lucky to have him as captain.”
Gavaskar also praised Rahul Dravid Rohit Sharma led India to elusive trophy glory as coach and captain.
“While the players naturally hog the limelight, the support staff led by the one and only Rahul Dravid also played a huge role in this victory. The combination of the two R-team What a great experience.
