NAGPUR: Leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Rohit Pawar Strongly condemning the attack on a Maratha family in Kalyan society on Friday, it held the BJP-led government accountable for the deteriorating law and order situation in Maharashtra.
Comparing the incident with the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, Pawar said, “Maharashtra is the land of saints, but under the rule of the BJP, The harmony and law and order in the country are collapsing. Such attacks on Marathas will not be tolerated.
Pawar said while talking to media outside Vidhan Bhavan building State Legislature Winter Session.
The incident took place on Wednesday night at Azmera Heights/1 in Kalyan West Yogidham, where Akhilesh Shukla, a local resident, allegedly attacked Lata Balkrishna Kalvikatte (56) and her family members after a heated argument over incense.
Shukla reportedly brought outsiders into the society and attacked the family with iron rods, pipes and wooden sticks, injuring two to three people.
Sources revealed that the dispute escalated when Shukla insulted Lata. caste discriminationsaid: “You Marathi people are filthy people. You eat fish and meat and belong in the slums. You don’t deserve to live in this building.” The verbal tirade soon turned violent and eventually turned cruel attack.
The attack sparked widespread outrage, with locals and political leaders demanding tough action. Comparing the law and order problems in other states, Pawar said: “Maharashtra is heading towards the kind of chaos we saw in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, where governance failed, crime Behavior is rampant. The government must take action before these incidents become the norm.

Kalyan police have launched an investigation into the case, with several political leaders stepping up criticism of the BJP’s governance as tensions rise ahead of the elections. The incident further fueled debate over the state government’s failure to curb such attacks and ensure public safety.
