Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has taken the field with batsmen and wicket-keepers since seeing his first red-ball action in Duleep Trophy, beginning in five days on September 5th. Pant, who bounced back from a car accident that he sustained back in December last year, posted a training video on Instagram where he showcased his trademark strokes.
Making sure that he remains focused, Rishabh Pant wrote on his post, “I try not to have expectations because they can tend to tear you apart.I try to work as hard as I possibly can and give every ounce of a hundred percent & keep learning from it. #RP17.”
This was after the car accident that saw Pant leading the Delhi capitals where he played in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Delhi Capitals team came 6th just outside the playoffs with more wins than loses at 7-7. Pant was the overall leading run-scorer for his team in the 13 matches played scoring 446 runs with an impressive strike rate of over 155 with three fifties. Being a key part of the Indian national team, Pant had a strong presence during the ICC T20 World Cup, which India won. He came in India’s run lists as the 3rd with 171 runs at an average of 24.42 with the highest run score in a single T20 World Cup, for a wicket keeper with the most dismissals of 14. His efforts helped to bring an end to the 13years of India’s drought at the ICC World Cup title.
Rishabh Pant will be playing for India B in this year’s Duleep Trophy, ahead of a two-match Test series against Bangladesh that will commence on September 19. ATHARVA PANT has been one of the fulcrums in India’s batting unit, especially against spin, in Test matches as he wins matches with bat at crucial stages.
Since he made his Test debut 2018, Pant has appeared in 33 Tests and accumulated 2271 from them with an average of 43.67 and a strike rate of above 73. His record includes five lots of 100s and eleven fifties, with the highest score being 159 run not out.
