Rinku Singh has been with the same Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Indian Premier League for seven years. In recent seasons, he has progressed and shown his true potential by winning games for KKR and earning a call-up to India national team.
A reserve player for India’s T20 World Cup squad, Rinku is still one of the finest finishers in T20 format in India.
His contributions have not equated to a fat salary as he pockets INR 55 lakh at KKR. As opposed to this, Mitchell Starc who is his teammate commands a gigantic figure of 24.75 Cr INR.There are speculations that if Rinku entered the IPL auction pool, even a bid ranging from INR 10 crore could be too low to take away him. However, when queried about his current salary at KKR, Rinku showed off his humble nature as well as contentment.
“Even Rs 50-55 lakhs is a lot,” says Rinku during an interview with Dainik Jagran. “When I started playing cricket I had never expected that it would lead me upto this much money. At that time I was child so if i get even five or ten rs i used to think that i will take it anyway.Nowadays I am getting rupees fifty five lakh so this is very much,I should be pleased whatever God give me.This is my thinking.I don’t think at all like this that i must get these many bucks or that.I am extremely glad even with fifty five lakh rupees. And when I didn’t have all these things in my pocket then only I realized what did money mean.”
He stressed out that money was not important to him.
“All this currently is just an illusion if we talk about reality now.You came empty-handed nor can you go back carrying anything. The timing of these things changes completely.I want to say one thing more-you have to return back in the same position. Stay grounded what else,” added Rinku.
Rinku Singh’s philosophy is a refreshing reminder of the values of humility and contentment, especially in a world often driven by material gains.
