years ago, Vicky Kaushal Candidly recalls the physical deprivation he endured while playing an army commander in Uri: The Surgical Strike. The 2019 film, based on the 2016 surgical strikes in Jammu and Kashmir, became one of the turning points in Vicky Kaushal’s career.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, the actor told us about the difficulties he faced in getting the ideal look for his role. According to him, in order to play this role, he had to gain about 15 kilograms of weight, which was not an easy task considering his innate personality. Vicky tried her best to eat pizza, burgers, and other junk food without gaining much weight.
Vicky underwent 7-8 months of intense training, a strict diet and proper exercise to achieve the required weight for the role. However, the weight gain wasn’t what bothered him the most. In fact, military training is the real test for Vicky, because it really tests his physical and mental endurance.
Kaushal explained that not only was he supposed to look like an Army officer, but it was crucial for him to adopt the commanding attitude and discipline required for the role. His commitment paid off when he finally transformed his body to bring out the power and authority the character required.
