Jammu: A retired Superintendent of Police (SP) has been arrested under Official Secrets Act for publication’sensitive information‘ in his Book Recently posted on Jammuofficials said on Saturday, Sanjay Khajuria reported.
Officials said Mohammad Aslam Shaikh’s book contained a copy of the FIR besides other sensitive information. Sheikh was arrested from his residence in Gandhi Nagar on Friday.
The Official Secrets Act provides that if a person is entrusted with any document or information relating to the civil affairs of the country and discloses it to another person, he or she shall be liable to imprisonment for up to one year, or to a fine, or to both. Police said the matter is under investigation.
