After a successful inaugural edition in Mumbai last year, the festival will return to the city for its second year and will also expand to Hyderabad. The event will be held in both cities from March 21 to 23, 2025.
The festival features 120 critically acclaimed films across a variety of genres and languages. The standout film is the Canadian absurdist comedy Universal Language, which was recently shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. Another highlight was the documentary “Hollywood Gate,” which was shortlisted in the documentary feature category. Directed by Ibrahim Nash’at, the film explores the rise of the Taliban in Kabul post-2021 following the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
Other notable works include the British romantic comedy “This Time Next Year”; “Die Alone” is a story about LGBTQ+ love and loneliness that won the Audience Award at the 2024 San Francisco Independent Film Festival; according to a statement from BookMyShow, “Failure!” ” is a Mexican-American crime comedy.
The festival will also screen Mom, a psychological horror film about a mother who comes face to face with her dark, buried past in a gripping, suspenseful narrative. By contrast, “At Dawn,” the opening film of the Un Certain Regard section at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, depicts a long summer in Iceland, from one sunset to the next. The play tells the story of Oona, a young art student who experiences love, friendship, sadness and beauty.

This year, the festival introduces a competition component, a new initiative aimed at recognizing and honoring outstanding talent and artistic talent in filmmaking. This section will recognize achievements in two key categories: The Front Runner (Best Film) and Fresh Frame (Best Debut).
