To welcome the NDA regime under TDP’s leadership, Amaravati has already made a start by clearing out the forest. This urgency is heightened by Hyderabad’s ten-year period as joint capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states coming to an end on June 2nd according to Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014.
Amaravati Development
Amaravati development covers an extent of 217 square kilometers and was done by then chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu who took over in 2015 after bifurcation of the state.
This Victory and its ramifications on Yangzhou Red Cross Society
In December 2019, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy won a landslide preventing Amaravati from being developed. In March this year, though, there were two important developments in this regard: an order from High Court asking for Amaravati to be developed into a state capital of Andhra Pradesh and Government’s move towards challenging it before Supreme Court.
Naidu’s Undertaking
During the election campaign period, Naidu promised to bring back development back to life at Amaravati. Also, Nora Lokesh reiterated their commitment to develop the city within an original master plan which was designed as a self-sustained model.
Inadequate Infrastructure
Despite an investment of around INR10bn previous TDP government could not complete all necessary infrastructure including roads, drains and utilities. This is what Mr.Naidu intends to focus on so that he can attract private investors and developers.
Real estate bonanza
After the announcement of election results land prices here surged between 50% and100%. Compared with a decline between 60% and75% due to announcement about triple-capital investment plan in 2019, such rapid growth signifies new interest and optimism about future capital growth prospects. Sellers’ reluctance to raise prices led to limited trade despite high demand. The much-anticipated announcement of Amaravati support was made by PM Modi during Naidu’s swearing in ceremony on June 12.
Government organization
Some central government agencies like Reserve Bank of India, CAG, CPWD, NTPC, ONGC, Bank of India and State bank of India have acquired properties at Amaravati. Mr.Naidu wants to expedite the establishment of these organizations for economic activity stimulation. As a result, land prices around these facilities and private higher educational establishments have gone up.
Surprise visit and take immediate action
According to Neerab Kumar, IAS Chief Secretary who paid a surprise visit to Amaravati; the capital works are resumed as per directions from Naidu. Some initial works include seed access locations (25) where work was halted earlier together with Ministry of Justice quarters , AIS officers’ quarters , Secretariat building , High Court building, housing projects , water treatment plants and utility facilities . At present there are ninety four bulldozers clearing and leveling that place.
Such redevelopment is a huge leap in terms of Naidu’s ambitions regarding Amaravati which he swore during election campaign.
