Rajiv Shukla, Vice Chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), praised the Indian team’s performance Thursday night as a “great achievement”.
Defeating South Africa by seven runs in Barbados on Saturday, the men in blue clinched their second T20 World Cup title.
Speaking to Parami, Shukla said that this win has created a lot of excitement among cricket fans and BCCI management.
“Everyone is happy because winning the championship is a great achievement ICC T20 World Cup After defeating South Africa and many countries. I would like to thank all the players, team management and BCCI officials… who landed here today on a private Air India charter flight and will now travel to Mumbai where there will be a reception…” Shukla said.
The supporters of victorious T20 World-Cup Indian Team hailed it with open arms on Thursday just like their idols together with the trophy.
After meeting Prime Minister Modi In New Delhi, Indian cricketers are expected to fly to Mumbai on special flight.
Arriving at Mumbai Airport, the team will then proceed to weakness stadium. At Wankhede Stadium there will be a brief ceremony as well as a one-kilometre victory parade organized by BCCI from Nariman Point up to Wankhede.
