Rajasthan’s Medical Council (RMC) revoked the registration of Dr Sanjay Dhankar, who is alleged to have performed the operation that failed on Wednesday. Along with this, eight other doctors’ registrations were cancelled while two others were suspended for six months.
Dr Dhankar conducted the controversial surgery at a private hospital in Jhunjhunu on May 15. Allegedly he wrongfully took out the healthy kidney of a 30-year-old female patient called Eid Banu instead of removing the affected one.
It was in a general meeting of RMC chaired by its Director Public Health Dr Ravi Prakash Mathur that this decision was arrived at. 22 members of nomination committee from the medical school were also present during this meeting. Dr Rajesh Sharma, RMC Registrar confirmed that they received a total of 25 cases on their panel and ethics committee.
Now In Court Doctor’s Negligence Case
As per National Medical Council guidelines, their names are: Sanjay Dhankhar, Ganpat Singh, M Sajid, M Afzal Krishna Soni, Bomma Reddy Hari Krishna, Jaydeep Singh and Baljeet Kaur. Other than this two more registrars Ajay Agarwal and Suman Agarwal have been suspended for six months.
The state government has deregistered Dhankar Hospital under Clinical Establishments Act where the operation took place. A report by health department also described it as “medical negligence”.
According to Dr Sharma: “Today (Wednesday) Dr Dhankar’s case was put before jury; there is ongoing medical negligence lawsuit against him. As such his registration has been Cancelled after considering evidence such as investigation report from health department..
“Moreover ,the committee found that two government doctors namely Dr Ganpat Singh’s degree and Dr Jaideep Singh’s degree are fraudulent.The registrations of two doctors allegedly involved in determining gender of fetus have been suspended for six months. Moreover, the registrations of private hospitals Other three doctors were found to possess fake degrees on top of which their registrations were deleted.
The patient who had her healthy kidney removed is now undergoing dialysis at SMS Medical College Specialty Hospital.
