THOOTHUKUDI: The Tamil Nadu government has declared school holidays in five districts as the intensifying northeast monsoon brings heavy rainfall. Schools in Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Tiruvarur districts will remain closed on Wednesday, November 20.
Besides, schools in Kanniyakumari and Pechiparai areas of Kanyakumari district will also remain closed due to incessant rainfall.
this India Meteorological Department The IMD has predicted moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu over the next five days and has issued a rainfall alert.
Earlier, a holiday was declared on Tuesday, November 19, in Nagapattinam, Thoothukudi and Karaikal districts.
Heavy rains caused severe damage, especially in the delta and southern areas. Roads in the affected areas are flooded, affecting daily life.
The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms and lightning in several parts of the state.
Authorities are on high alert and disaster management teams have been deployed to monitor flood-prone areas. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and avoid areas with standing water.
