On Monday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stressed the need for quad countries to cooperate in order to maintain freedom, openness, stability and security indo pacific As he delivered his opening statement during the four Foreign ministers’ meeting held in Tokyo on Monday.
He mentioned that Commitment towards global wellbeing is something which Quad itself is continuous and changing.
In his words: “We can only ensure that Indo-Pacific remains free, open, stable, secure and prosperous by close cooperation.”
Additionally, he emphasized on political understanding enhancement, expanding economic partnership scope, technical cooperation improvement as well as deepening people-to-people ties among these four nations. The minister asked the conference to send out a clear message in terms of long-term presence of Quad actions and development.
Formally established in November 2017 with India Japan US Australia as its members this was formulated as an approach to safeguard important maritime lanes within the Indo-Pacific region.
