Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, being brought to the police crime scene for investigation, as locals gather around him on 12th June 2024 at Bangalore.
The Annapoorneshwari Nagar police station a little before 200 metres has been placed under Section 144 of CrPC surrounding it for five days where Darshan and his twelve associates who have allegedly killed Renukaswamy are kept.
To arrest the swelling crowds that were giving general public and the people coming to the police station untold problems, this order was done.
Outside of a police stations scores of fans disrupted peace shouting slogans backing Darshan. The numbers swelled over the past two days despite additional force deployed by the Police.
When Darshan and his associates were taken for spot mahazar to Pattanegere shed on 12th June even then a large crowd gathered and started sloganeering. The police had to resort to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

Considering this situation, Bengaluru city police commissioner B. Dayananda verified intelligence inputs and imposed prohibitory orders from June 13th through June 17th for five days.
Gathering of more than five persons while holding meeting, protest or any kind of display with placards and posters is prohibited until further notice.
On top of that, some media personnel camping in front of the station alleged being roughed up by some officers. Also written complaint about this matter was sent to Home Minister G.Parameshwar who guaranteed complainant that he would look into it.
As part of preventive measures against possible attack, Police command has erected a high-rise pandal on top of their station. Meanwhile investigation continues into what extent darshan had involvement with others in killing Renukaswamy
