Elon Musk, the Chief Executive Officer of SpaceX and his rocket making company were taken to court by eight engineers on Wednesday who said that they were fired unlawfully for standing against women sexual harassment and discrimination claims. These included four female and four male engineers who maintain that Musk sanctioned their sacking in 2022 when they sent each another a memorandum denouncing him as a “distraction and embarrassment” while urging top managers to condemn what he had said in his sexually provocative tweets.
According to this lawsuit, the conduct of Mr. Musk promoted SpaceX’s “pervasively sexist culture” wherein female engineers regularly encountered cases of harassment and sexist comments that went unnoticed. Although SpaceX has refuted any wrongdoing with regard to the 2022 letter arguing that it was disruptive, it maintains that these employees violated its laws leading to their right dismissal.
