New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to lead Lok Sabha Rae Bareli’s poll campaign and Amish, and encamped in these places parliamentary constituency Sources revealed that the party will hold elections in Uttar Pradesh from Monday to ensure victory in two high-profile seats. They said the Congress has decided to ensure Rae Bareli wins by a huge margin and wrest back the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Israeli. Amethi who defeated Rahul Gandhi in the survey.
“She (Priyanka Gandhi) will spearhead the campaign in Amethi and Rai Bareilly. She will be on standby in these two constituencies till the elections in both constituencies,” a source said.
Sources said Priyanka Gandhi will hold hundreds of ‘nukad sabhas’ meetings and door-to-door campaigning.
“The center will be based at Rae Bareli and she will be stationed at the hotel. From booth management to outreach, everything will be handled by her,” the source said.
Sources said outreach has begun to the freedom fighter’s family members and people who have decades of kinship with the Gandhi family.
She will also oversee digital and social media activities in both constituencies, they said.
They said campaigns would be carried out at all levels of the organization to reach everyone in both constituencies.
Priyanka Gandhi will also take charge of Congress president Malikajun Haq, former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and former deputy chief minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pillow Planning and arrangement of election campaigns for senior leaders.
Sources said she will cover around 250-300 villages and provide equal time to both the constituencies.
The strong foundation laid by Feroze Gandhi in Rae Bareli was later nurtured and strengthened by his wife and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who in 1967, Winning the seat in 1971 and 1980, friends and members of the Gandhi family followed suit.
In Amethi, after 25 years, a non-Gandhi family member has entered the fray against sitting MP Irani.
Sharma is the key figure in looking after these two prestigious constituencies on behalf of the Gandhi family.
Amethi and Rae Bareli seats will go to polls on May 20 in the fifth phase of the seven-phase general election.
