Kamala Harris As the former president assembles a huge crowd of voters in a packed arena, Barack Obama Michelle Obama energized millions of people on Tuesday night at another event aimed at showcasing the dynamism and range of Harris. Democratic candidate An expanding alliance.
Obama tells reporters: ‘I feel hope’ Democratic National Convention In Chicago, his wife Michelle, who used to be the first lady, said to the same crowd just minutes afterwords “there is something magic in the air is there not”.
She said “America hope is coming back.”
Earlier in battleground Wisconsin – where the Republican Party held its national convention last month – Harris spoke at a rally saying that she was running “a campaign powered by the people”.
“We will chart a new path forward together,” said the vice president in part of a speech aired for Democratic National Committee. “A future of freedom, opportunity, optimism and faith.”
The noisy night that stretched across two states underscored what could be called an into an alliance-in-the-making by Harris’ team to beat Trump this coming fall. She has managed to attract top stars from within her party, leaders ranging from far left to centrists and even some Republicans backing her campaign.
But one thing was clear in different factions making up Harris’s evolving coalition during “A Bold Vision for America’s Future,” they all had a common goal; ensuring Trump does not come back to power as President.
Twenty years after he made his first appearance and Massachusetts 2004 Boston convention stage where he catapulted himself towards becoming America’s first black president Obama took back to it.
Obama stated on Tuesday: “I believe history will remember Joe Biden as a President who saved democracy at its most dangerous moment.” The crowd responded with chants of ‘Thank you Joe.’ He said further that I am proud he is my president but more proud that he is my friend.’
Grassley praised Harris although so did Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and self-proclaimed democratic socialist Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
The appearance of Trump’s former press secretary Stephanie Grisham, who has since spoken out harshly against her ex-boss, may have been meant to sting Trump himself, who also addressed the convention audience.
She said “Trump does not have any empathy, morals or loyalty to facts.” I love my country more than my party. Kamala Harris speaks the truth. She respects the American people. She has my vote.”
However, on the second night of the four-day convention things were less somber.
A symbolic roll call of state representatives pledging their support for the Democratic nominee turned into an intra-party atmosphere. A DJ played a slew of state-specific songs, and Atlanta native Lil Jon ran out of Georgia to play his hit “Turn Down for What” with DJ Snake to the delight of thousands inside the cavernous United Center. People feel happy.
Doug says that before we end tonight he would like to share some things about him and Kamala because he believes it is important for people know who she really is beyond her political career.
“You get that laugh. That laugh, I adore!” Emhoff hollered to the delight of the crowd. He went on to say, “Her strong point is empathy.”
Meanwhile, Trump has been touring swing states all week during the Democratic National Convention. On Tuesday, he traveled to Howell, Miss., where he thought Harris was in charge of a nation-wide Marxist “war on cops” and got deputy sheriffs lined up behind him.
In one more summary of America under Harris, Trump remarked, “Kamala Harris will bring crime, chaos, destruction and death.”
However, for Harris herself this election is nothing short of existentially dire. She warned Americans against complacency in response to Supreme Court decisions that granted broad presidential immunity—a power that she claims Trump would misuse.
She also exploited Trump’s rejection of federal guarantees concerning abortion.
“They don’t seem to trust women,” she said about Trump and his Republican colleagues. “Well, we trust women.”
The Vice President’s address raised some Biden 2020 themes before he dropped out—whereby Trump is represented as a threat to democracy. For her part, it is the values and freedoms Americans hold dear that are threatened by Donald Trump according to Kamala Harris.
I’ll be a dictator first day after inauguration only but later claimed this was just one big joke but still vowed to make sure that as president he had greater authority over federal prosecutions – which historically have mostly been handled by the Justice Department….
Harris stated that someone with such a record should never again be allowed behind the seal with president US on it. “Never again.”
