On Tuesday, there were multiple schemes announced by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for Andhra Pradesh as she presented the Union Budget 2024 in the Lok Sabha Project. The move is expected to appease a crucial ally Chandrababu Naidu who has once again, in recent days, asked that his state be declared a special category state. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre depends heavily on the Telugu Desam Party led by Chandrababu Naidu’s to keep it going.
FM Sitharaman has announced that backward area grants will be provided to 3 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Moreover, she also announced that her department would give special financial support for development of capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
“Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill – Our government has strived hard to meet its commitments under this law. Recognizing capital needs of this State we will provide special financial support through multilateral agencies. In this fiscal year alone we have arranged Rs 15,000 crore and shall step up further in subsequent years,” FM Sitharaman stated.
Meanwhile, several projects were also announced by the Centre in Bihar with Rs 26,000 crore proposed for several road projects in the state.
“The Purvodaya plan will be prepared by us for comprehensive development of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Andra Pardesh as well.” Said finance minister.
“Development of Gaya Industrial Park in Bihar will be supported along the Amritsar – Kolkata Industrial Corridor. It is expected to stimulate growth rates in the eastern region. This includes development of Road Connectivity Scheme Patna-Pune Asia Expressway, Buxar-Bhagalpur Expressway, Bodhgaya-Rajgir-Vaishali-Darbhanga and additional two lane bridge over Ganga River at Buxar costing approximately INR 26,000 crore,” she added.
The Center has also said that airports, medical colleges and sports infrastructure will also be set up in Bihar, Sitharaman said.
