Yediyurappa, who is charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (Pocso), sparked a controversy when he arrived in Bengaluru after a woman complained that he had misbehaved with her daughter. The Karnataka CID had earlier issued a notice to him in connection with the case.
The complaint filed by the mother of the alleged victim alleged that Yediyurappa sexually assaulted her daughter on February 2, 2024.
The incident reportedly took place at Yediyurappa’s residence when the woman sought his help in another rape case involving her daughter. According to the mother, Yediyurappa took his daughter into a room and locked the door, where the alleged attack took place.
Yediyurappa’s defense against the charges was that he was “just checking whether she had been raped”. The complainant initially did not report the incident but later decided to take legal action. Meanwhile, the main complainant’s mother died of lung cancer in May.
A case has been registered against him under the Pocso Act and IPC Section 354A (sexual harassment) based on a complaint filed by the late mother of a 17-year-old girl.
