Geo News reported on August 28 that Liaqat Baloch, the Deputy Vice President of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI), announced that his party will go on a countrywide strike to pressurize the government.
Balochistan told a press conference in Islamabad on Monday that the business community had unanimously agreed to fight inflation, high electricity prices and heavy taxes all over the country.
He cautioned that if the government made efforts to halt this work stoppage, it would bring about anarchy in Pakistan.
The publication noted that earlier this month federal ministers signed a deal after accepting JI’s request of bailing out from inflation ravaged economy. Geo News reported.

The strike was announced after JI Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman declared another protest two weeks ago, which he said his party would join trade bodies to hold peaceful protests.
Most importantly, before announcing the protest the party called off a 14-day sit-in on August 9 as part of successful negotiations with the government on demands like reducing high electricity costs and reviving agreements that are engaged with independent power producers.
