New Delhi: Nearly 400 passengers were scheduled to fly from Istanbul to Delhi and Mumbai on the 12th. IndiGo flights I have been stranded at the Turkish airport for more than a day. Passengers took to social media to recount their horrific experiences. While they were due to fly to Delhi (6E 12) and Mumbai (6E 18) on Wednesday evening, on Friday morning – delayed by 39 hours – the airline did not say when they would fly home.
Shubham Bansal wrote on LinkedIn: “I am one of the 400 passengers stranded in Istanbul since the last 24 hours. IndiGo has not responded (or) updated. Is this how you run an airline? Arrangements.
Cold weather in Istanbul added to passengers’ woes. The Rohan Rajas are in trouble as IndiGo is not providing transport to the accommodation they are allegedly providing.
Parshwa Mehta will travel to Mumbai on Wednesday at 8.15 pm. The flight was delayed first to 11pm and then to 10am on Thursday. She said the information was provided to passengers by Turkish Airlines crew members, not Indigo. “We were told we could use the lounge istanbul airport as compensation. But the lounge is too small to accommodate so many people stranded passengers. Many of us stood for hours without proper facilities. No alternative flights were offered, no proper communication took place and most importantly, no compensation plan was shared,” he said on X, while slamming IndiGo for a “blatant failure of basic customer service” and saying it owed it responsibility. The passenger apologized and was given fair compensation.
IndiGo said in a statement: “We are aware of the delay of IndiGo flights to Istanbul. We prioritize customer convenience and have our teams at all contact points to assist customers. IndiGo is very committed to bringing customers We apologize for the inconvenience.
Recently, IndiGo was named the “World’s Worst Airline” in the 2024 AirHelp Ratings Report, ranking 103rd out of 109 airlines with a score of 4.80. The lower rating was due to poor customer satisfaction and poor handling of flight disruption claims. IndiGo rejected the report and criticized the survey’s methodology, saying the survey’s failure to disclose India’s sample size “raised doubts about the credibility of the survey.”
