According to officials, the STF received information that Ajay was residing in the area under a false name and posing as a contractor. He was planning to commit a major crime. The team reaches the spot and asks Ajay to surrender. In addition to Ajie, there were two other criminals at the scene. The two run away, but Ajie shoots at the police. The task force then took up position and began firing. Ajayi was shot four times. He was rushed to NMCH in critical condition, where he died.
STF Additional Director General (ADG) Amrit Raj said, “Ajay has a long criminal history. He has been wanted by the police for a long time in connection with bank robberies and other robbery cases. A pistol, mobile phone, 8 to 10 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the spot , other property and the criminal’s clothing.
The ADG further said the STF was actively hunting Ajayi. He changes hiding places frequently. To evade arrest, he rented a room at Savita Devi’s house at 10 Sanjay Nagar Road in Jakkanpur area of ​​Patna on December 9.
“He claimed to be an electrical contractor and rented the house in the name of Akash Yadav instead of Ajay Rai. He started living in the house from December 10. He along with two other notorious criminals Md Sahil and a young man named Vikas who lives there. We are trying to catch them,” the ADG added.
According to STF sources, Ajay is associated with the notorious Chandan Sonar gang. Chandan Sonar’s gang is one of the largest gangs involved in kidnapping. Ajay was responsible for seven bank robberies in Saran and several other areas. He was also involved in a robbery case in Haryana. Three years ago, he formed his own gang. The police STF had been searching for him for several months.
