In response to the ongoing protests, Kolkata Police has implemented Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (2023) (formerly Section 144 of the CrPC) around medical colleges and hospitals. This regulation comes into effect on Sunday, August 18, and will last for seven days.
