NEW DELHI: Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their fairytale run in IPL 2024 to grab the fourth and final play-off berth with a 27-run thrilling win over defending champions Chennai Super Kings on Saturday.
RCB’s triumph placed them into the post-season for this season making it the ninth time out of fifteen seasons. The first five overs had provided some respite for RCB fans as they crawled away from 20/2 to 65/2, before Kohli got out after scoring 38 off just 12 balls.
This came as a shocker to Rayudu and many others who did not expect CSK to be knocked out so early.
On Sunday, he was involved in a banter with former RCB pacer Varun Aaron on a Star Sports show following his viral reaction to CSK’s loss on Saturday night.
Rayudu sarcastically said last night, “We saw what was the reaction in the streets of Bengaluru, in fact CSK should give one of their trophies to RCB.”
To which Aaron replied jokingly, “He’s just not able to digest the fact that RCB knocked out CSK.”
In order for RCB to qualify for playoffs there were 17 runs required and left-arm pacer Yash Dayal clean bowled MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja helping RCB achieve an epic win.
Play-offs have already been reached by Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
