Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has informed a Bombay High Court Judge in Nagpur that it has found four locations where more than 90,000 people from the city could be housed stray dog.
Puranik, who is an advocate for NMC, said that sizes of these places are between 13.49 hectares and 52.73 hectares.
The bench directed the civic body to apprise it about steps taken to keep dogs in confinement. ” added the bench.
This was during hearing of a PIL initiated by social worker Vijay Talewar through counsel Firdos Mirza on the menace of dogs in city which subsequently converted into PIL.
Further Mr Puranik revealed that NMC has identified one site each at Dudhabhari (Rithi) and Tishti also two sites at Tondkhairi. The distance between the first two and urban area is about 46 km and 60 km respectively while the latter one is located at about 23 kilometers away from the urban area.
