Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday hit out at the Congress, terming the party as “weak” when it comes to terrorism. ‘You can see how during the decade of the UPA-led congress ruling, terror attacks were allowed…without any appropriate response,’ said the senior BJP leader.
“This is why they think that,” she explained after interacting with young people from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
“That’s why they keep saying that,” said Sitharaman.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress of not acting quickly after 26/11 for fear of changes in their “vote bank”. He also pointed out that it was due to a weak mentality of Congress party that People of Jammu and Kashmir have been suffering for years.
“They sat with us whenever India faced terror attacks and terrorists,” he added.
While talking to youngsters, Sitharaman responded to different queries including her journey to esteemed Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and her inability to complete her PhD while working abroad.
She also spoke about India’s start-up ecosystem and other such initiatives made by the current BJP government making India the third largest economy in the world. At present, India ranks fifth among world economies with fastest growth rate.
Saturday marks last day of campaigning for Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections and voting will be held on Monday coinciding with polling in all 17 assembly seats in Telangana and 25 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh. The vote counting date is June 4th.
