The NEET PG 2024 exam, an important gateway for medical aspirants seeking admission to postgraduate courses, has been clouded by severe delays and controversies. The situation has escalated to the Supreme Court of India, with 19 petitioners challenging the National Board of Medical Examinations (NBEMS) over issues related to transparency and release of examination results.
NEET PG candidates move to Supreme Court: Here’s why
On September 13, 2024, the Supreme Court heard a petition filed by a group of NEET PG candidates. The aspirants have raised concerns about irregularities in the exam process, including allegations of leaked question papers and differences in standardization of scores. The petitioners are asking for the release of test answers and further clarity on the standardized rules used to determine results. The court’s decision to issue notice to NBEMS is an important step in resolving these issues as it demonstrates that the issues raised are being taken seriously.
The next Supreme Court hearing is scheduled for September 20, 2024. The upcoming hearing may address the issues raised by the petitioners and potentially expedite the release of results and answers.
NEET PG counseling schedule updated: Confusion and delays
The delay in NEET PG coaching schedule has added to the uncertainty and confusion among candidates. While the Medical Consultative Committee (MCC) is yet to officially announce the schedule for the first round of consultation, the Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) has announced the tentative dates. According to FAIMA, registration for the first round of counseling for NEET PG is expected to begin on September 20, 2024.
Current Status: Change of Nationality Facility and Next Steps
In response to the ongoing issues, MCC has launched a facility for candidates to change their nationality from Indian to Non-Resident Indian (NRI) to provide counseling services. The facility is valid until September 17, 2024. .
In addition, cCandidates who need to obtain NEET PG Counseling First Round Disability Certificate 2024 can get it from designated disability centers from September 9, 2024 to September 25, 2024.
