“CM Mamata Banerjee attended the Niti Aayog meeting. We all heard her voice. Every CM was given an allotted time and it was displayed on the screen in front of every table… She said in the media that she ‘s microphone is turned off.
She also criticized the Bengal Chief Minister’s narrative as being based on “error” and called it “unfortunate.”
“Every chief minister has an appropriate time to speak…Unfortunately, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that her microphone was switched off, which is not true… She should tell the truth behind this rather than once again create a narrative based on lies,” the federal minister said.
“The microphone is muted until the designated time,” Mamata said
Controversy erupted after Mamata Banerjee stormed out of a Niti Aayog council meeting, claiming that her microphone was muted before the stipulated time and she should have been allowed to speak for at least half an hour.
“In the beginning, Rajnath Ji said, ‘Five to seven minutes’…I was not even allowed (the) seven minutes. Even if seven minutes were allowed, I would have done everything I had to say. But they Ringed the doorbell at five minutes and I said, okay, I’ll leave then…and I left.
Mamata, the only Indian bloc leader and chief minister from a non-BJP state to attend the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said she was “not an irresponsible person who does not adhere to time limits”.
“I was the only person there (from an opposition-ruled state); they should have allocated at least half an hour to me… and I am not an irresponsible person, I will not reserve my time,” she says.
Mamata mentioned that she felt “humiliated” by what had happened, saying: “I don’t have any problem if some states get a bigger share… but that doesn’t mean some states get almost nothing. To… if you paralyze the states, the Center will be paralyzed in the coming days.
Bangladesh CM claim CM’s speech related to NDA is long
Mamata Banerjee said chief ministers from the BJP or NDA gave their views for 20 minutes but were interrupted after five minutes, leading her to boycott the meeting.
“Chandrababu Naidu (Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh) gave his views for 20 minutes, and the chief ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa also spoke 15, 16, 17, 20 minutes of views.
Niti Aayog chief BVR Subrahmanyam refuted Mamata’s allegations, saying West Bengal officials continued to attend meetings even after Mamata left.
Subramaniam said the West Bengal chief minister’s request to speak before lunch had been accepted, but it would be her turn to speak in the afternoon, in alphabetical order by state.
He added that when her time came, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had just tapped the microphone when she stopped speaking and walked out. However, West Bengal government officials continued to attend the meeting.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh condemned the Center’s “treatment” of Mamata, calling it “unacceptable”.
“Its (Niti Aayog’s) functioning has been blatantly partisan… It suppresses all different and diverse views, which is the essence of open democracy… Its treatment of West Bengal CM today The approach, although typical of Niti Aayog, is unacceptable,” Ramesh posted on X.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin lashed out at the central government, saying “the BJP government must understand that the opposition is an integral part of our democracy.”
