On Sunday, Nancy Pelosi, the former House of Representative speaker made an extreme demand that US President Joe Bidento Mount Rushmore. She hailed Biden as “a consequential US president” and argued he should stand together with those already immortalized in stone on the monument.
“You’ve got Teddy Roosevelt up there, and he’s great,” Pelosi said during an interview on CBS News Sunday.
“I’m not saying take him down, but you could add Biden,” she added.
Nancy Pelosi’s comments come several days after Biden announced that he would not seek re-election and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris following a recent tough debate with Donald Trump on CNN.
There has been rumors suggesting Nancy Pelosi wanted Biden to pull out from the 2024 Presidential contest because he feared to compete against him.
Before this, even former President Donald Trump hinted at his own addition to Mount Rushmore when asked by reporters – “Sounds like a good idea to me.”
However, he dismissed reports that his administration had reached out to South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem about how it could be done.
The 60-foot-tall faces of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln grace the granite cliffside of Mount Rushmore which serves as a “shrine to democracy.”
These presidents were chosen by sculptor Gutzon Borglum for their significant contributions to our country’s history: Washington representing national beginnings; Jefferson symbolizing western expansion; Lincoln signifying efforts towards unifying America as well as abolishing slavery; and Roosevelt embodying drive for industry. It was chiseled between 1927-1941 out of the rock face.
