AARO recorded 757 new incidents between May 2023 and June 2024, including 485 current cases and 272 previously unreported cases between 2021 and 2022. Pentagon officials said the significant increase from the previous year’s 281 reports was due to increased awareness of reporting rather than an increase in the incidence of reporting.
Since its establishment, AARO has reviewed a total of 1,652 cases.
This year’s report confirmed that AARO found “no evidence of extraterrestrial life, activity, or technology.” While some reports have ground-level explanations, and many require further investigation, none suggest any “breakthrough” technology.
At a press conference on Thursday, AARO leadership revealed that 21 reports from the past 18 months remained unexplained.
