During the 2024 edition of Indian Premier League, there was a warm embrace between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. That was one of the most touching moments this season.
Those past differences between Kohli (the face of Royal Challengers Bengaluru) and Gambhir (mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders) have been left behind as shown by their actions.
Gambhir returned to KKR as a mentor, which has proven to be a masterstroke taking Shreyas Iyer’s team to its third IPL title. In Chennai, KKR hammered Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. This win ended KKR’s 10-year wait for the trophy.
Gambhir told Sportskeeda that he does not believe there is any problem between him and Kohli. “There is a chasm between perception and reality,” he said. “There are certain things about my relationship with him that this country doesn’t need to know.” He went on: “He also has every right to express himself in such ways as I do.”
Additionally, Gambhir admitted that RCB batter had excellent batting skills thus praising his six-hitting ability.
Having scored 741 runs in 15 matches during the IPL season of 2024, where he won the prestigious Orange Cap at stake, Kohli enjoyed an amazing run of form.
Earlier during one event, Kohli spoke about a moment involving Gambhir. “People are very disappointed with my behaviour. I hugged Naveen, then Gauti bhai (Gautam Gambhir) came and hugged me next day. You don’t have masala so you’re jeering now. We aren’t children anymore,” added Kohli.
